The Sun StorageTek 3511 SATA Array is an affordable, compact, expandable array designed to meet the cost and performance needs of nearline storage, data reference and data archival applications. The array is ideal for Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) environments requiring large, affordable storage capacity, but without the high utilization and reliability characteristics normally associated with Fibre Channel technologies. You can also use Sun StorageTek 3511 Array expansion trays with the Sun StorageTek 3510 FC Array to create unified tiered storage configurations.
Based on Serial ATA drive and Fibre Channel hardware RAID technologies, the Sun StorageTek 3511 SATA Array scales in capacity up to 16 TB and offers 12 FC host ports to connect up to 12 servers, or 6 servers in a redundant configuration, eliminating the need for costly external edge switches and reducing management overhead.
